If you’ve been provided a SecurID keyfob (often referred to as a ‘SecurID token’) so that you can authenticate to a UVM resource that requires multifactor authentication, you’ll need to activate it by creating a PIN that you’ll use in conjunction with the changing digits that show on the keyfob’s screen. The easiest way to do this is by visiting https://sslvpn.uvm.edu/securid, which will redirect you to this site:
Enter your NetID in the first field (all lower case, please). In the second field, enter just the six digits that are currently displayed on your SecurID keyfob. Enter your NetID password into the final field, then click “Login”.
The next screen allows you to create a new 4-8 character PIN. Please note: though this page says that your PIN should be alphanumeric it must use only numbers (no alpha or special characters). The PIN cannot be a string of characters from your keyboard, e.g. ‘1234’.
Click ‘Continue’. On the final screen, be sure that the number on the keyfob has changed, then enter your new numeric PIN immediately followed by the number showing on the keyfob.
After clicking ‘Continue’ a final time you should receive a welcome message. At this point you can close your browser window at any time and cancel the download of the Cisco AnyConnect client if it has begun.
Now that you’ve created your PIN you will use the same format any time you are called upon to use your SecurID- enter your PIN followed by the six digits that are currently displayed on the keyfob with no spaces or punctuation. If you have any questions or need to reset your PIN, please contact Identity and Account Management at firstname.lastname@example.org or 656-2006.
